What is the purpose of The South African Shower Enclosure Manufacturers Association?
In order to regulate and put safety first in the Shower Door Industry, the Association was formed after much consultation within the industry, to implement and regulate norms within which to operate, and to comply with the Natioanl Building Regulations.
Does your industry have a controlling and regulating body?
Yes. We are proud to be Founding Members of the South African Shower Enclosure Manfacturers Association.
Why do you not go beyond the SASEMA regulations
As founding members of SASEMA, we have signed a Code Of Conduct, wherein we agree to abide by the regluations of the industry. We are not prepared to step outside those bounds.
Must a Frameless door have a cill
We would always recommend a cill. A frameless door cannot be seen as being watertight, so we use a cill to retain as much water inside the shower as possible.
Our prices are set in relation to our Offering into the market. Whilst we do not encourage discounts, we are able to negotiate under certain conditions.
Do you charge for travelling to outlying areas
Yes. This is subject to distance and time charges, and are noted at time of initial contact.
We believe that as market leaders, we Defined our Luxurious products to the extent that we stand as leaders in our industry.
We carry two styles of Hinges which blend in with the most common styles of Sanitaryware on the market. Our Hinges are designed by us, and are unique in their ability to overcome many difficulties found on sites, and also incorporate a number of features.
Do you have a Frameless Sliding Door
Yes. Sliding doors by their nature need Head and Cill Rails. We are in the process of launching our Image Range which will encompass Frameless Sliding Gear Systems.
Can you premanufacture whilst we do our tiling
We can, but we do not recommend this. You would need to keep the tiling exactly precise, or run the risk of the product being too big or too small. We prefer to measure after tiling.
TECHNICAL
The biggest seller of all shower doors throughout the world is 6mm Glass. Our SASEMA regulations allow the use of both 6mm and 8mm Glass, which we can use within one hinge system.
Some Companies say I can only use 8mm glass. Is this true?
No, absolutely not. Within SASEMA all manufacturers have regulated thickness of and sizes of glass, and we use 6mm, 8mm or 10mm glass, depending on the application.
What are your Hinges made from
Hinges and other Frameless components are made from a special zink alloy die casting and are chrome plated
Can I hinge a door off a 90 degree panel?
We do not recommend this on a Frameless Panel. On a Framed Product, this can be done.
What should the slope be to allow adequate drainage?
Difficult question: the water must not be allowed to dam up inside the shower, therefore this answer is dependant on outflow of the water system.
Can you fix the frame or glass in front of the tiles to hide the edge away
NO. We do not recommend this whatsoever. Whilst the tile edges may be hidden by the profile, issues such as water proofing become real problems, and this should be avoided at all costs.
What is the difference bewteen TSG and LAMINATED glass
Toughened Safety Glass is treated to high Heat, and quick cooling, which changes the chemical composition of the glass, making it very tough for human impact to break. Laminated Glass is also classed as a Safety Glass in this Country, but due to high moisture content in bathrooms, it is not used for these applicaitons
Yes. We provide full installation instructions.
Yes. We have a small stock available, as part of a discontinued range. Please enquire with our Head Office in Cape Town.
What is a Framed Door vs a Frameless Door
A Framed Door is defined as having Aluminium around each piece of glass; A frameless door is defined as having no Aluminium around the glass; Hence a Mirage Pivot or Pivot Wide Door and Contour Hinge Doors can be defined as being Frameless, as no frame is attached to the Glass.
Which is better, Framed or Frameless
The answer to this question depends on what one is trying to achieve. Frameless is more popular, as there is very little Framework or Aluminium. However, water tightness is sacrificed to some extent to achieve this. Therefore a combination of practicality and functionality is normally the answer to this important question.
No. Nowhere in the world can this be done.
Why must we use Tiebars or Shelves
Our main concern is that of stability. We want to ensure a safe environment in which you and your family shower. Taking shortcuts to perhaps make the product look better, or to save costs, invariably leads to a consequence of potential failure.
We guarantee our products for 1 year from time of Delivery or Installation, against any defect which may appear, subject to proper maintenance having been carried out on the units
Regularly, after each use, the glass should be thoroughly dried. We do have Anti-Calcium Products available, but regular maintenance is still required.
What do you offer in terms of after sales service
All spare parts are always kept in stock, and we pride ourselves on returning to site within 48 hours in the event of a problem.
Do you have standard sizes of shower doors
Yes, but on a limited scale. We do carry Some Standard Mirage Bath Screens, but most of our sales are custom made units to our customer's specific needs
Do you use Plastic or Perspex Glass instead of Glass?
No. It scratches easily and is too light for our product range. We only make use of toughened safety glass according to SABS standards
Can I purchase Off the Shelf from you
We carry a very limited amount of Mirage Bathscreens, but all other products are custom made.
No. We only use Aluminium which is always treated to SABS standards, and all fixings are Stainless Steel.
Does the Finish come off i.e. Powdercoating or Anodising
Not in normal usage. Like any other Painted Finish, the Powdercoating can be chipped or scratched under extreme conditions, but this is a very rare event. Of course the Aluminium must be properly cleaned regularly.
To what extent can you custom make a shower enclosure
Within our Maximum and Minimum Manufactuing Tables, we are able to fully customize width, height, finish on aluminium, glass type and product range.
Is a Frameless door fully waterproof
No. Anyone who says otherwise is desperate for a sale.
Why do you insist on a deposit
This is to secure the Sale, as we custom make each Shower Enclosure. It would be highly unlikely that we would be able to re-use the Finished Product elsewhere.
My glass is badly stained, Why and Will this happen again?
This could indicate a lack of proper maintenance, or be traced to PH levels, frequency of use etc.
Why is your lead time so long?
Our current lead time is 10 to 12 Working Days. All products are individually processed and manufactured, unique to your bathroom requirements, which does take time to deliver.
